The Old Testament's
Revelation Timeline Bible Secret:
The Prophetic Feasts

Revelation Timeline Bible Secret Revealed: The Old Testament Prophetic Feasts, by Marc Speed

An excerpt from the book End Times Explained by Marc Speed

“Holydays…are shadows of things to come, but the body is of Christ.” – Colossians 2:16-17

In this article I’m going to share one of the most amazing things I’ve ever learned about Bible prophecy. It’s something that most Christians are completely unaware of, because they are taught “The Old Testament law of Moses doesn’t matter any more”. These Christians don’t realize that in addition to fulfilling the role God had for at that time in history, the law of Moses was also prophetic.

How so?

Well, in the law of Moses, God gave the Israelites seven Feasts to celebrate every year (Lev. 23). What most Christians don’t know is that each one of these feasts was a foreshadowing – a prophecy – of a real event that would take place in the future on the very day of that Feast on the Hebrew calendar!

What an amazing sign pointing to God’s sovereignty over human history this would be, if God could actually pull this off! It would show beyond a shadow of doubt that He is totally in control of human history, nothing happens without His permission, He allows things for a reason, and He can intervene any way He wants and whenever He wants, to bring His purpose for the five ages of human history to fruition. (See my articles in the Hell Mistranslation section of this website.) So can God pull it off?

He already has – at least halfway!

The Spring Feasts Have Been Fulfilled, the Fall Feasts Are Still To Come

You see, the Feasts decreed by the law of Moses were divided into Spring Feasts and Fall Feasts. The events foretold by the Spring Feasts have already occurred! They were fulfilled by events surrounding the first coming of Jesus to earth, and they took place on the very day of each Spring Feast on the Hebrew calendar.

For example, the Feast of Passover was fulfilled by Christ when He died on the cross to become our eternal Passover Lamb “who takes away the sins of the world”. There is a reason why the Bible makes such a big deal about the timing of when Jesus went up to allow Himself to be crucified. John 13:1 shows us that Jesus Himself understood He had to die on Passover in order to fulfill the Feast of Passover!

Think about it – at the very time when the Israelites were killing their ceremonial Passover lambs to celebrate the Feast of Passover, Jesus was dying on the cross as our Passover Lamb, once and for all. This is why Jesus said, “I did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it.” One of the reasons He came was to fulfill the prophecies contained in the Old Testament law. Amazing.

Let me give you another example that will make a penny drop in your brain. Remember the famous verse “When the day of Pentecost had fully come?” (Acts 2:1) I could never figure out why the Bible said it that way! If I would’ve written that verse a few years ago, I would’ve simply said, “It just so happened to be the day of Pentecost, and the Holy Spirit fell on the people.”

But now I realize why the day of Pentecost – one of the Spring Feasts – had to be fully come! The coming of the Holy Spirit HAD to fall on the day of Pentecost to fulfill the prophetic Feast of Pentecost! In fact, the literal Greek for that verse says “When the day of Pentecost was being fulfilled…”!

This is truly astounding. Just as Paul said in Colossians 2:16-17, these Feasts were shadows of things to come – every time the ancient Israelites celebrated one of these Feasts, they were play-acting, so to speak, real events that God had pre-ordained to occur in real life later on in history.

So what about the Fall Feasts? This is where all this connects to the book of Revelation and the end times. The Fall Feasts have not yet been fulfilled. They will be fulfilled in the future by events surrounding the second coming of Christ that must occur on the very day of the Hebrew calendar for which they’re scheduled. Obviously this is super-helpful in figuring out when certain things are going to happen in the last days of this age.

One of the reasons many modern Christians often have trouble understanding the book of Revelation is that certain key events described in Revelation (like the rapture – see my articles on it) are described in a kind of shorthand that refers back to these Old Testament Feasts – the significance of which most Christians are clueless about. In the case of the rapture, it is much easier to uncover its relative timing (and where it is referred to in the book of Revelation!) when you realize which Fall Feast it will fulfill.

But before I get into that, let me explain the Spring Feasts and how they were fulfilled in real life. This will build your faith that the fall feasts will also be fulfilled in real life, right on God's schedule.

The Spring Feasts

The Feast of Passover, 14th day of month of Nisan on Hebrew calendar (Deut. 16:1; Ex. 12:2-3, 6; John 1:29, 13:1):

Through the sacrificing of a “sacrificial lamb”, it celebrated the deliverance of Israel from slavery, and foreshadowed the deliverance of the world from sin through the sacrificing of Christ, “the lamb who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). This Feast was fulfilled in real life by Christ when He died on the cross on Passover day. On the day Jesus was crucified, Jesus hung dying on the cross at the same time the Israelites were killing their Passover lambs.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread, which began on the 15th day of the month of Nisan, right after Passover (Lev. 23:6, 1 Cor. 5:7-8, John 6:33, 50-51):

Leaven in Scripture symbolizes sin – the unleavened bread symbolizes Christ’s sinless nature. (He is the “bread from heaven” - John 6:32). This Feast was fulfilled with Christ’s burial. Believers are “buried with Him in baptism” so as to put away “the old man” of sin (Col. 2:12, Rom 6:6). You can start to see how incredibly rich with symbolism these prophetic Feasts are. God did this on purpose as object lessons for us. There’s a lot more cool symbolism to these Feasts than I’m giving you here! I encourage you to study them in depth some time, you’ll be amazed.

The Feast of Firstfruits, 17th day of month of Nisan (1st day of the week) (Lev. 23:9-14, 1 Cor. 15:20-23)

This Feast was fulfilled when Jesus rose from the dead. He is “the firstfruits of those who are asleep (dead)” (1 Cor. 15:20). If you study these first 3 Spring Feasts carefully, you will see that the timing of Jesus’ death and resurrection matches perfectly with the timing of the Hebrew calendar of the Feasts of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits.

Amazingly, Jesus personally fulfilled the first three Spring Feasts, accurately down to the smallest detail and on the very day of the lunar calendar when they were due. Truly astounding. Only a sovereign God who is completely in control over human history could pre-ordain such amazing events and make them happen with such perfect timing.

There’s one more Spring Feast (technically I should call it a Summer Feast) I need to mention, which has already partially been fulfilled:

The Feast of Pentecost, 50 days after Firstfruits (Lev. 23:15-22, Acts 2:1-4)

This Feast was partially fulfilled when the Holy Spirit fell on the believers for the first time as recorded in Acts 2:1-4. Two “leavened loaves” were offered to God on the Feast of Pentecost. This obviously symbolizes two groups of sinful human beings (as opposed to Christ, the unleavened sinless bread from heaven). The church in this age – starting with those first Israelites to be filled with the Holy Spirit – is the first loaf. Romans 11:25-26 tells us what the second loaf is: “Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved.”

Here Paul tells us clearly that ALL Israel (not some, ALL) will be saved in the future. He’s referring to the same thing Joel 2:28-32 foretells, which was quoted by Peter on Pentecost. Unlike that past day of Pentecost when only 3,000 were saved, on a future day of Pentecost, “all Israel will be saved”. This will be the final, complete fulfillment of the Feast of Pentecost.

I’ll hopefully have an article on the website soon that explains more about this, including who Israel actually is in the modern world. There is a tremendous amount of Old Testament end-times prophecy that is undecipherable if you don’t understand who “Israel” actually is in the modern world (it's not just the commonly-referred-to modern nation of Israel). But for now, you can simply realize that the Feast of Pentecost was partially fulfilled with the church in this age (starting on the day of Pentecost fifty days after Jesus’ resurrection), and it will be fully fulfilled in the future when all Israel is saved and is given a new heart and a new spirit according to Ezekiel 36:26 on a future day of Pentecost on the Hebrew calendar.

So we’ve got three Spring Feasts already fulfilled, one Spring/Summer Feast partially fulfilled, and three Fall Feasts yet to be fulfilled.

My book End Times Explained explains how each Fall Feast will be fulfilled by an end time event which will occur on the very day of each Fall Feast on the Hebrew calendar.
